AI training with Portable

Multiple trainings, one goal: confident, responsible AI use, whether you're just getting started or leading the adoption for your whole organisation.

AI training that matches you where you're at

Beginner to executive level training

Portable has spent more than 18 years building technology and services for government, health, justice, and community organisations, and we bring that same practical, evidence-based approach to how we teach AI. We run two courses: a foundations course for anyone who wants to build day-to-day confidence with tools like ChatGPT and Claude, and a leaders' course for the executives and board members responsible for bringing AI into their organisation safely and strategically. Both are small, hands-on, and run by people who use these tools in real projects.

AI training available

  • Conversations with AI, a foundations course

For: anyone building confidence with generative AI day to day. No coding required.

A half-day, beginner-friendly session that takes you from basic conversations with an AI tool to prototyping something useful. You'll learn how language models actually reason, how to reduce hallucinations, and how to use context engineering to get a genuinely useful answer instead of a generic one.

  • AI for leaders, methods, mindsets, and tools for leaders and change-makers

    For: senior leaders and executives.

Go beyond how to use AI tools and into how to lead their adoption: the strategic decisions, the governance frameworks, and the stakeholder conversations that come with bringing AI into an organisation responsibly. Work through a simulated AI-related crisis, apply strategic design tools, and leave with language and tools built for the boardroom conversations.

  • Custom AI training is for organisations moving from hesitation to capability.

For: groups of eight or more.

It gives leaders the clarity to understand AI's opportunities and risks, gives teams the space to explore AI safely, and gives staff with uneven AI literacy a shared starting point. Whether you're early in the journey or already experimenting, this program meets you where you are.

Why train with Portable

  • Led by our own team: the same researchers, strategists, and technologists who work with government, health, justice, and community organisations facilitate these sessions.

  • Small cohorts by design: numbers are capped so you get real time with facilitators and the content.

  • Built for practice: hands-on exercises, real tools, and a take-home toolkit, so you leave able to use what you learned the same week.

What our attendees say

“It was wonderful to have a personalised session specific to Youth Law Australia and our stage of AI adoption. Sarah provided so much insight and clarity, and I was able to take away so much more than broader AI sessions.”

Kate

Youth Law Australia

“This course is for you if you want to embrace AI but don't really know where to start, or if you're on the journey and want it to work better for you. Very inclusive and engaging for the non-technical people as well as those with more experience. Nothing scary in this course!”

Annabel

Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission

“We loved working with the Portable team. They competently guided us through a rapid rebrand process, and we are so proud of the end result. The school’s branding and content now clearly portrays the school’s unique philosophy and mission. Thank you Portable!”
