From transforming trauma-informed training for aged care workers, to building pathways to justice using responsible AI, these awards reflect Portable’s core belief; good design is beyond beautiful. It’s strategic, inclusive, and measurable. And when done right, it changes lives.
Recognised for excellence in service design: Designing with Dignity
Designing with Dignity, a trauma-informed training initiative for the Department of Social Services, received a Good Design Award Winner accolade in the Service Design category.
Created in partnership with Pur Productions, NGNY, Blue Knot, and people affected by forced adoption, this training program equips aged care professionals to provide more informed, compassionate support to survivors.

This project exemplifies Portable’s approach to ethical co-design; starting with lived experience, translating deep research into engaging learning, and delivering accessible formats tailored to the needs of an ageing population.
Recognised for excellence in concept design: Hear Me Out
Hear Me Out, a conversational AI prototype helping people navigate legal services, received a Good Design Award Winner accolade in the Concept Design category.
Developed in collaboration with the National Justice Project, UNSW Kaldor Centre, Macquarie University, and K&L Gates, the tool makes it easier for people to understand their rights and connect to legal support freeing up legal professionals to focus on high-impact matters.

With this prototype, Portable is demonstrating that responsible AI isn’t a theoretical future. It’s something that can be prototyped now, with real-world application, guided by trust, governance, and community voice.
