Why take our co-design course?

  • Meaningful engagement

Your organisation needs to improve the way it meaningfully collaborates and engages with people internally and externally.

  • Lived experience learning

You have tried to engage people with lived experience and experienced pushback or limited success.

  • Better design

You appreciate human centred design and wish to bring more of it into your team.

  • Capability uplift

You are motivated to lead, influence, or support the growth of co-design with leaders and staff in your organisation.

The Co-Design Toolkit

Portable's playbook is included in your course.

In addition to your time in the course, you will walk away with an action plan template, extra reflective activities and additional resources. It's a kit of co-design support to make sure the lessons and tools of they day can be implemented into your every day practice.

The people powering our training

The workshops are run by Portable's own design practitioners, the same people who bring human centred design into projects where getting it wrong has real consequences: participant-led storytelling for family violence survivors, cancer patients sharing their healthcare experiences, and products built with the people who use them from the first workshop onward.

Between them, the team facilitating this course carries backgrounds in design research, service design, and social science, alongside formal training in human centred and co-design methods. What you're getting is the method they use on Monday, adapted for a room instead of a live project.

Perks of training with Portable

  • Led by our experts

Our workshops are run by experienced Portable leaders who work with our clients to research, design, implement, and improve products and services that make a real impact on the lives of those they serve.

  • Intimate training size

Restricting the number of attendees in our workshops ensures that you’re given the opportunity to take full advantage of the content and our facilitators. Invest your time with confidence that it will develop your knowledge and skills to practically apply to your next project.

  • Hands-on training

We understand the value of learning by doing. That’s why our workshops are designed to provide you with a combination of fundamental theory, practical exercises and thought-provoking discussions. You’ll also receive our Co-Design Toolkit to support your future projects.

  • Actionable learnings

Co-Design participants use the actual scenarios and truths of their organisation to get realistic next steps and needs. Return to the job at hand with a clear sense of what is achievable and how to get there.

What attendees say about our training

“I really loved the idea that co-design doesn’t always have to be done in a pure way but the ideas and principals can guide us in our everyday practices.”

“I enjoyed talking to the other participants, sharing our experiences. It was a good mix of activities & discussions.”

“So useful to be in a broad group with different experiences, it helped to break out of our silos.”
