Akshanka Malik (she/her)
Founder | Data and AI Consultant | Director at Women Coders
Akanksha is a Data and AI Consultant, a Microsoft AI MVP and an international speaker. After studying Financial Maths and Actuarial Science at UCC, Ireland, she realised she wanted to work with people as well as numbers. As a consultant, she works with clients to help them solve problems by making more informed decisions with data.
She is founder of the platform Paths Uncovered, which is aimed at showcasing untraditional pathways into technology and helping people thrive in their tech careers. She is a firm believer of diversity and inclusivity. She loves machine learning, and that it is becoming more accessible to everyone. She is an avid advocate for women in STEM and is currently the network director of Women Who Code Melbourne and advisory board member for Kaleida, a career growth platform.
Luke Thomas (he/him)
Legal Product Designer at Portable
Luke Thomas is passionate about using design and technology to improve access to justice by providing innovative and empathetic experiences online. He's designed digital products and websites for legal aid, non-profit, and governmental organisations worldwide, including amica, an online dispute resolution product for National Legal Aid, and Sweep, a pay compliance and employment rights app. He's currently working on designing next-generation conversational interfaces powered by large language models to provide legal help. Luke holds a Juris Doctor from Melbourne Law School.
Dean Moutopoulos (he/him)
Project Officer at National Justice Project
Dean has experience in developing tech-driven solutions for legal applications. After studying Law and Communications at the University of Technology Sydney, Dean discovered a passion for bridging the gap between legal processes and innovative technology. At Smokeball, a legal practice management platform, he contributed to legal research projects and product development, focusing on automation and enhancing user experience. Following this, he joined the National Justice Project as the lead for Hear Me Out, a web-based, AI-powered platform that simplifies the complaint process, empowering individuals to access justice more effectively.
Dean’s work centres on the intersection of law and technology, driving positive social impact by leveraging AI to improve access to justice. He is a strong advocate for using technology to support underrepresented communities and believes in the power of collaboration and innovation to address complex legal challenges.
Chris Rickard (he/him)
Founder and CEO of Userdoc
Chris is an entrepreneur, software engineer, and AI engineer. He's the CEO and Founder of Userdoc - and AI-infused platform to help businesses build better software requirements. Chris also founded inoutput, which later became part of Portable.
