YourCase will help to support users navigate the justice system, from the moment they first engage with the system all the way through to the end of their case.
The tool will provide accessible, practical information as well as emotional support and links to other relevant resources and services. It is intended to demystify the court process and remove some of the stress and anxiety of having to go through a family violence matter at court.
The project builds on our extensive work in the justice space. This includes our recent work with the Office of Public Prosecutions and our past work with the Neighbourhood Justice Centre on MyCase, a day of court triage system, and the Family Violence Intervention Order, which informed a recommendation in the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
After conducting user research to understand the journey of family violence survivors engaging in the justice system and their needs, we have begun the co-design process with a broad range of stakeholders. These include: Victoria Police, the Victorian Magistrates Court, Safe Steps, Victoria University, the Department of Premier and Cabinet Victoria, Family Safety Victoria and the Department of Human Services Victoria.
YourCase is being supported through funding from the Victorian Government Public Sector Innovation Fund. You can read the Media Release from Special Minister of State Gavin Jennings here.
We are looking for others to join the co-design process, so please get in touch if you would like to get involved.
