That means facilitating participant-led storytelling for family violence survivors on the Victim Survivor Advisory Council, researching how Victorian workplaces experience psychological safety for WorkSafe Victoria, and building a transport app in six languages for migrants and refugees settling in Mildura. ![Matt and Michael filming](https://portable.com.au/assets/_transforms/images/caseStudy/vsac-participant-led-storytelling/80509/Share-image_9f897b1382d56b7dbd210a479f72ecc7.png) ### Lived experience shaping family violence reform. These participant-led films gave family violence survivors control over how their own story is told, rather than having it paraphrased or spoken for by someone else. For [Family Safety Victoria](https://www.vic.gov.au/family-safety-victoria), that meant lived experience could be brought directly into policy conversations and public platforms, humanising system challenges for the decision-makers responsible for reform. This research gave [WorkSafe Victoria](https://www.worksafe.vic.gov.au/) evidence, gathered through 13 trauma-responsive interviews with people across Victoria's diverse workplaces, of what employers actually need to act on psychological health and safety, rather than assumptions. That evidence directly shaped the next redesign of the WorkWell Toolkit, timed to legislative changes that expand employer obligations in this area. This tool gives migrants and refugees settling in Mildura who don't speak English as a first language public transport information in six languages: English, Arabic, Farsi, Kirundi, Vietnamese and Swahili. For [SMECC](https://smecc.org.au/)'s community, that removes a language barrier that was making it harder to get to services, jobs and everyday life in a new town.
