 ### We hold space for the whole program, well beyond project management.

For [**Cancer Council Australia**](https://portable.com.au/work/case-studies/national-cancer-navigation-service-design), that meant coordinating a national program across nine independent organisations and a national office, alongside external partners and federal deadlines. Our early read was that a program this shape needed dedicated program management on both sides; it ultimately ran with three. Portable created the governance, workstreams, sequencing, and decision-making structures that turned that complexity into a program people could actually deliver.

### Constructive challenge is part of the job and transformation generates a lot of legitimate noise.

Boards, funders, operational realities, technology, deadlines, and competing priorities all shape what’s possible. Portable uses evidence to make those trade-offs explicit and keep decisions connected to the people the change is for. When research with people experiencing the greatest fragmentation in cancer support informed a national service blueprint, we developed a shared future-state model that gave nine organisations something concrete to align around, prioritise against, and use to decide what should happen next.

 

 ### We lead even when the path isn't clear, with responsibility and clarity.

Over ten months we moved a national, federated organisation from discovery into a defined future state, priority workstreams and a roadmap for delivery, adapting the program as evidence emerged and decisions were made. In a federation where ownership can sit across organisations, that also meant making dependencies, decision points and accountability visible, creating enough structure for the program to keep moving while the answer was still taking shape.
