As a company and a group of individuals, we have always been driven by a mission to use technology to help transform sectors and industries, with profit seen as a by-product of good work practices, ethical standards and a close association with organisations that share these same values in the non-government and government space. It’s a real privilege to the company and its staff, clients and founders to be recognised for the unique way in which we operate and the world view that we share.
It’s a source of particular pride for us to be one of the very few technology companies in the world to be a B Corp and we put a challenge out to other technology companies in Australia and internationally to begin the same process with a view to make the world a more sustainable and ethically minded place through technology and good business practices.
B Corps seek to create value for their stakeholders through looking after their customers, employees, organisational community and overall environment. They help generate equality in the workplace and show commitment to redefining what matters are most important to their working community.
Having met the environmental, social and governmental capacity tests set by the B Corporation movement, Portable now joins the community of conscientious B Corp organisations operating locally – we are the 90th – and internationally. This is validated through the commitment we have to working with other organisations that seek to change the world in a positive way, such as The Brotherhood of St Laurence, The Neighbourhood Justice Centre, World Vision, The Red Cross, The Wilderness Society and Engineers Without Borders, to name a few.
